Unspeakable Heap
2023,
14 min, 16mm to digital, stereo
An accumulation of histories is explored via my uncle, a retired Greco-Roman Olympian wrestler who lives in a sinking house built atop a decommissioned landfill. This garbage dump was itself built upon earthen cavities left in WWII from peat extraction. The peat bogs also reveal their own histories as bodies sink in and emerge out of this complex heap.
